Bought this kettle three years ago. It was somehow leaking and so I bought another one last year. I put the kettle on to boil last week and came back to the kitchen to see water all over the floor and counter. Couldn't figure out how. So put some water in sat and watched it boil and then leak from the measuring panel. If filled above the bottom water mark, the pressure of the enclosed water squeezes it out at the bottom of the marked panel.

Bic Lighter of Kettles
We originally bought one, and it worked fine for 2 months, and then it broke. I had it replaced, and bought 3 more because they were on sale. Within 6 months all of them broke. The last one comes on by itself if you leave it plugged in. Not worth the bother.
